Ohanaeze tells Tinubu, “If you free Nnamdi Kanu, you will become a national hero in Biafra

President Bola Tinubu has been advised by the Ohanaeze Ndigbo that he will become a national hero if he frees Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Ohanaeze’s factional secretary general, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, has called for an end to all Igbo groups’ inflammatory rhetoric and media campaigns against the federal government.

To put it another way, he emphasized that “Igbo leaders need to rally together and take the necessary steps towards resolving the current situation.”

If President Tinubu seizes the occasion and frees Nnamdi Kanu, Isiguzoro claims he will be hailed as a national hero. If he stands firm against all demands and shows compassion and forgiveness, Ohanaeze Ndigbo and the Igbo people would be eternally grateful to him. We, the people of Nigeria, must forgive Nnamdi Kanu for his previous actions if we are ever to achieve national unity and prosperity.

In June 2021, Kanu was captured in Kenya and sent to Nigeria by extraordinary rendition.

After his return to Nigeria, the DSS put him in jail until his legal proceedings were completed.

The Nigerian government has refused to release him despite being discharged by the courts.
