One of Ratcliffe’s first recruits will be a winger from Manchester United’s rivals

One of the first acquisitions for Manchester United under Sir Jim Ratcliffe will be Michael Olise, who is currently playing at Crystal Palace.

This summer, Ratcliffe, who paid £1.3 billion for a minority interest in Manchester United, will be able to exercise Olise’s release clause.

Ratcliffe is prepared to assemble his own squad at United, which has been a problem during Glazers’ tenure.

Two prominent candidates for the position of director of football and sporting director at Old Trafford have previously been announced: Paul Mitchell and Dan Ashworth.

Chelsea and Manchester City were both interested in signing Olise last summer, but he ultimately decided to extend his contract with Palace for another four years.

However, there was a release clause in that deal; it was difficult to trigger, but it will go into effect in the summer. Rumor has it that it’s just slightly larger than the £35 million clause in his previous deal.
