Osimhen at Napoli equals Maradona’s achievement

Victor Osimhen scored a hat-trick in the team’s 6-1 victory over Sassuolo on Wednesday, matching the scoring record set by the late Diego Armando Maradona at Napoli.

Osimhen is now the third player in Napoli’s history to score ten goals or more for four straight seasons, according to popular statistics website Opta.

Maradona accomplished the feat in the years 1984–1988.

Between 1929/30 and 1932/33, Attila Sallustro was the first player to break the Partenopei record.

Osimhen’s rookie season (2020–21) saw him score 10 goals in 24 league appearances.

The next season, the striker scored 14 goals in 27 league games as payback.

He scored 26 goals in 32 league games the previous season.

In his 15 Serie A outings this season, the 25-year-old has already scored 11 goals.
