The Labour Party’s former candidate for governor of Anambra, Mr. Val Ozigbo, has endorsed the party’s request in the State House of Assembly for President Bola Tinubu and other governors to put off capital projects for the time being.

During a news briefing on Thursday, the eight-member caucus expressed disapproval of the degree of hardship and instability faced by the nation.

In support of the lawmakers, Ozigbo declared: “I join the LP inner caucus of the Anambra State House of Assembly in urging governments at all levels to respond to the people’s current condition, which is hunger and insecurity.

“I believe that the call is appropriate since our people are suffering greatly as a result of measures that are not immediately necessary. With this, I formally support the communiqué.

“People’s current struggles have progressed from extreme poverty to chronic hunger, and to make matters worse, security has drastically declined.”

Ozigbo applauded the caucus’ selfless decision to forgo their base pay for a period of six months in order to provide for their constituents.

He urged them to keep upholding the party’s principles and Mr. Peter Obi’s agenda, saying that other legislators should take inspiration from this.
