Tinubu joins Nigerians in lamenting the deaths of Ogunbajo, Herbert Wigwe, and others

The news of the deaths of prominent banker and businessman Herbert Wigwe, as well as Mr. Abimbola Ogunbanjo, the former Group Chairman of the Nigerian Exchange Group Plc, and Wigwe family members, shocked and distressed President Bola Tinubu, he added.

The formal confirmation from pertinent sources was received before the President sent forth his condolences.

Herbert Wigwe founded the How Foundation and served as the CEO of Access Holdings Plc.

Wigwe and Ogunbajo are outstanding business leaders in Nigeria, and Tinubu said in a statement provided by his media assistant Ajuri Ngelale that their deaths are “an overwhelming tragedy that is shocking beyond comprehension.”

He expressed his condolences to the families of Wigwe and Ogunbanjo, the business community, and everyone else affected by this terrifying event.

In his sympathy letter, Tinubu said, “I pray for the peaceful repose of the departed and asks God Almighty to comfort the multitude of Nigerians who are grieving and the families of the deceased at this deeply agonizing moment.”
