Jose Peseiro has officially announced his resignation as the Super Eagles’ head coach.
This was disclosed by the Portuguese strategist on Friday in a curt message on the social networking app X.
Peseiro declared that, as his contract with the Nigeria Football Federation, or NFF, expired on February 29, he would not be extending it.
We completed our agreement with the NFF yesterday.
“Coaching the Super Eagles was an honor and a source of pride.” 22 months of unwavering commitment, hardship, passion, and zeal have passed. We experience a sense of completion.
“We would like to thank President Ibrahim Gusau, General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi, Secretary Dayo Enebi, the NFF, all of the staff, and especially all of the PLAYERS, with whom leading has been a wonderful pleasure. Sir Amaju Pinnick signed us.
“Guys, we’re grateful; being a part of this family has been an honor. No matter where you are, you can always count on our support, even though we will miss you. Hugs to each and every one of you, Peseiro wrote.
Peseiro guided Nigeria to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) championship game, but they were defeated 2-1 by the host Ivory Coast.
