Concerned Parents Forum of Abia State Midwifery and Nursing School Students has filed a petition with the Abia State House of Assembly against Mr. Nwakaego Onyeukwu, the state’s current Director of Nursing Services.
Claims of fraudulent tactics, student intimidation, and expulsion threats are at the heart of the petition.
During a House plenary session, the petition was discussed.
Two other petitions were presented to the House: one by Mrs. Dorathy Nwosu, a Director of Nursing Services, against the Abia State commissioner for health, Dr. Mrs. Ngozi Okoronkwo, and another by Mrs. Chinyere Ogbonna, the acting Principal of the School of Nursing in Umuahia, against the Dean of the Ministry of Health in that city.
The petitioner against the dean alleged that the dean had slandered her reputation and usurped her authority.
The three petitions were referred to the House Committee on Health by Speaker Emmanuel Emeruwa, who issued a ruling on them.
In addition, the Committee on public petitions was given 2 weeks to investigate and report back on the petition brought by Dr. Ugochukwu Nwajiri, Chairman of Ndiokonkwo house, regarding an alleged undue land grabbing at Oba Uzonta in Amaokwe Mba Odum autonomous community in Ozuitem, Bende LGA, against one Mr. Ndionyenma Nwajiri.
Meanwhile, Mathias Umeh, who represents the Umunnochi seat, has pleaded with the appropriate authorities to fix the poor roads and gully erosion that endanger the lives and livelihoods of his residents.
Umeh bemoaned the absence of access roads in some areas of Umunneochi and claimed that gully erosion on the Leru-Lomara-Nneato road had become a major problem for the locals there.
