Selling Osimhen will be difficult, according to De Laurentiis, president of Napoli

Victor Osimhen is the club’s talisman, and selling him will be more an emotional than a financial decision, according to Aurelio de Laurentiis, president of Napoli.

Osimhen’s new deal, which he signed in December, reportedly includes a release clause worth between €120 and €130 million, which means he might leave the Partenopei this summer.

The attacker is being pursued by Ligue 1 winners Paris Saint-Germain as well as Premier League heavyweights Chelsea and Arsenal.

After four outstanding seasons, De Laurentiis acknowledged it will be tough to watch the Nigerian international go the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.

There’s a release clause for Osimhen. What a large sum of money. During the FT’s Football Business Summit, De Laurentiis stated, “Money is Napoli’s latest problem.”

“We will carry on making wise purchases as we have in the past.

“The issue is purely sentimental; when a player departs, it’s like bidding a child farewell, but you’re still happy when he succeeds in another place.”

In 15 league games this season, the Nigerian international has netted 11 goals for the defending Serie A champions.
