Shekarau recommends that Tinubu cut back on the number of appointees

Ibrahim Shekarau, a former governor of Kano State, has urged President Bola Tinubu to cut the number of appointments in order to lower government spending.

This decision was made by Shekarau during an interview that HEALTHYSPOT101 watched on Tuesday on Channels Television.

“I anticipate that the president will also address the issue of the number of appointees,” he stated. It is possible that not all of these nominees will be needed. A minimum or maximum number should be determined by the government.

Betta Edu, Nigeria’s minister of humanitarian affairs and poverty alleviation, was suspended by President Tinubu, a move that Shekarau applauded.

The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation’s financial dealings should be thoroughly investigated, according to HEALTHYSPOT101, as Tinubu directed Ola Olukoyede, the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, to do at Monday.

The ministry asserted that Oniyelu Bridget is the Project Accountant, Grants for Vulnerable Groups, but a leaked memo from December 20, 2023, showed that Edu had instructed Oluwatoyin Madein, the Accountant-General of the Federation, to send N585 million to Bridget’s private account. This led to Edu’s criticism.
