States should expect dust haze and cloudiness from NiMet for the next three days

From Wednesday through Friday, widespread dust haze and cloudiness are expected, according to forecasts from the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet).

A meteorological projection issued by NiMet on Tuesday in Abuja forecasted dust haze on Wednesday across the northern area, reducing visibility to between 2 and 5 kilometers in some states, including Kano, Katsina, Kaduna, and Jigawa.

The forecast calls for early sunshine and a few clouds over the North Central, the agency added.

Later in the day, haze and isolated clouds are forecast for the Federal Capital Territory and parts of the states of Nasarawa, Kogi, Kwara, Niger, and Benue.

Cloudy skies with occasional sunlight are forecast for the south, while thunderstorms are likely to develop in the morning over the states of Lagos, Delta, Rivers, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom.

Thunderstorms are possible later today in the states of Ondo, Edo, Abia, Enugu, Anambra, Lagos, Bayelsa, Delta, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River.

On Thursday, the agency predicted that a dust cloud would cover the northern region over the forecast period.

Mornings were expected to be mostly sunny, with a few cloudy areas in the North Central.

Parts of the states of Kwara, Plateau, and Kogi can anticipate hazy conditions with isolated cloud cover. Some areas of the Federal Capital Territory, Nasarawa State, and Benue State may experience thunderstorms later this afternoon and tonight.

Cloudy skies with occasional bright sunshine are predicted for the southern half of the country. However, sections of the states of Rivers, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom might anticipate morning thunderstorms.

Oyo, Osun, Ekiti, Anambra, Imo, Edo, Delta, Bayelsa, Lagos, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, and Rivers states are forecast to have “isolated thunderstorms” later in the day.

During Friday’s forecast period, the EPA predicted dust haze to spread across the northern region.

NiMet predicted that the morning hours would be bright and sunny in the North Central.

It will be cloudy in the morning in parts of Akwa Ibom and Cross River states, and there is a chance of isolated thunderstorms later in the day in the Federal Capital Territory.

Storms are forecast for the afternoon and evening in parts of Oyo, Ondo, Enugu, Anambra, Imo, Abia, Lagos, Cross River, Bayelsa, Delta, and Rivers states.
