Using anti-aircraft weapons, bandits attack Zamfara, killing two police officers and others

The Kasuwa-Daji Town in the Kaura-Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State has been attacked by gunmen who are thought to be bandits wreaking havoc.

According to information obtained by twiscoloaded, the event, which took place early on Tuesday, resulted in the deaths of at least four people, including two police officers.

The fearless terrorists, armed with advanced weaponry such as anti-aircraft guns, abducted around forty local citizens as well.

Yazid Abubakar, a spokesman for the Zamfara State Police Command, confirmed the incident to Channels Television but was unable to provide an accurate figure for the number of people taken hostage.

“We have not yet verified the exact number of residents taken hostage, but the Commissioner of Police has sent in more officers to help the town return to normal.”

However, locals claimed that after the terrorists’ strike, at least forty people have gone missing.

According to Abubakar Kaura, a resident of Kaura-Namoda town, the bandits also broke into the house of Hamisu Kasuwar-Daji, the former state chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), and kidnapped one of his wives and grandchildren.

He claims that the former NURTW chief’s home lies near the town’s police station and that the bandits stormed the station, disarmed the on-duty officers, and murdered two.
