Suspected herders attack communities in Benue, leaving six dead and one missing

Multiple attacks on a community in Gwer West LGA, Benue State, by suspected armed Fulani herdsmen on Sunday are thought to have killed at least six people.

TWISCOLOADED has learned that the attack lasted for several hours before the helpless populace surrendered and the invaders retreated.

Mr. Perver Acham claims that “the herdsmen, numbering ten, attacked Tse Gamber in Sengev Council Ward in the early hours of Sunday, killing three persons and stealing one Iorhon Dam.”

According to the same source, three people were killed and several others were injured when an incident occurred on Sunday evening at Camp, Nagi, Mbachohon Council Ward, a village along the Naka-Agagbe route.

He further said that the dead bodies could not be disposed of for fear of provoking more violence.

SP Sewuese Anene, the Public Relations Officer for the Benue State Police Command, confirmed the attacks on Sunday morning and revealed that three of her cousins had been killed.

There has been no official word from military personnel in the region as of the time this article was written.
