Tinubu and other high-ranking government officials pay tribute to the nation’s heroes at the National Arcade during AFRD 2024

At the National Arcade, Eagle Square, Abuja, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other senior government officials laid wreaths in commemoration of Nigeria’s fallen heroes on Monday, drawing to a close the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration, AFRDC.

The annual AFRDC is a national ceremony held by the Ministry of Defense to honor the brave men and women who gave their lives protecting civilians during conflicts both at home and abroad, including the Nigerian civil war, peacekeeping missions throughout the globe, and numerous internal security operations.

In attendance at the ceremony were representatives from several security agencies, as well as the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, and the other services chiefs.

To honor the sacrifice of those who died, the president was the principal mourner.

Afterwards, the following individuals were recognized: the Service Chiefs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chief Justice Kayode Ariwoola, Minister of Defense, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyeson Wike, and many more.

The vollies were also shot during the festivities.

The president went on to sign the record commemorating the Armed Forces Remembrance Anniversary in 2024.

Then he let the white pigeons fly free, a symbol of harmony and cooperation for the nation.
