President Bola Tinubu has received praise from a segment of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo sociopolitical organization for choosing Rear Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla as the Chief of Naval Staff.
Following Ogalla’s promotion to Service Chief, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, a chieftain of Ohanaeze, stated that Igbos anticipate other appointments from Tinubu.
Recall that on Monday, Tinubu fired all of the service chiefs and appointed new ones, including the Southeasterner Rear Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla as Chief of Naval Staff.
Isiguzoro responded by describing the appointment as good news and stating that Tinubu should be commended for upholding federal character in his most recent appointment.
This is good news, as it confirms one of Ohanaeze’s predictions that the ousted Service Chiefs overstayed their welcome and had the necessary expertise to address the nation’s security issues. The old Service Chiefs’ release and the changing of the guard are welcomed by Ndigbo.
The new Service Chiefs have been instructed by Ohanaeze’s Secretary-General to combat national instability by employing a Carrot and Stick strategy.
Isiguzoro stated in a statement to twiscoloaded that “we applaud Tinubu for appointing an Igbo guy as the Chief of Naval Staff, which is one of the things that drive agitations in the Southeast. Ohanaeze applauds the president for upholding the federal character by appointing Service Chiefs who are representative of all the political zones.
“This is a reward for effort, and we are tasked with ensuring that the insecurity afflicting the nation is brought under control by the new Service Chiefs. We anticipate that Igbos would be more interested in economic measures that benefit us, and the new service chiefs must utilize a combination of carrots and sticks to address the nation’s security concerns.
“The majority of the country’s instability is caused by hunger, and politicians are encouraging many criminal activities to foster an unstable atmosphere so that they may take advantage of the chance to exploit our natural resources, as we can see in Zamfara, the Niger Delta, and other oil-producing states. The Southeast appreciates that this appointment has given them a sense of belonging. He has shown himself to be a progressive president, so we anticipate further advances in infrastructure.
“This nomination is the proper move to stop oil theft and all the corruption we’ve witnessed in the ministry.
“We salute Mr. President for showing Ndigbo this level of deference and honor by appointing our cherished son Ogalla as Chief of Naval Staff. We anticipate receiving more appointment calls.
