An Ipad Imole in hand during a communal conflict demonstrates Osun APC: Adeleke lacks empathy

While innocent people were being killed in the ongoing communal dispute between the Ifon and Ilobu villages, the governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, was allegedly holding a program while sitting in relative comfort.

The Osun APC has also cautioned the governor to stop making the people of the state look bad.

Osun APC Chairman Tajudeen Lawal issued a statement in Osogbo on Friday, reiterating the party’s belief that Thursday’s handling of the Ipade Imole event had been unprofessional.

The party also stated that Adeleke’s actions proved he is unable to lead since he lacked the requisite experience and talent.

Governor Ademola Adeleke is emotionally cold. I don’t understand why the governor didn’t appear bothered by the fact that people were getting killed around five kilometers away in the ongoing communal dispute between the people of Ifon-Osun and Ilobu while they were laughing and singing at the event.

“The time-wasting Ipade Imole, which ran for several hours where Adeleke talked much without substance, provided a golden opportunity for the people of the state to learn that the governor is not only an expert in dancing but also an unrivaled political comedian who trivializes serious matters affecting the state due to his lack of knowledge of what to do, how to do it, and when it should be done.

Furthermore, “I also observed that apart from the fact that Adeleke was superfluous and empty yesterday, the whole exercise turned out to be a tirade whereby the governor was openly demanding to be clapped for by his burdened and embarrassed audience.”

In response, Sunday Bisi, chairman of the Osun Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), called the status of the opposition party “painful and shameful.”

Bisi also cautioned Tajudeen Lawal, chairman of the Osun APC, to stop embarrassing the state with his erratic views on leadership.

The Governor’s genuine care for the people of the Ifon-Ilobu area was made clear in his comments at the meeting about the issue in the area. Right away, he convened a conference between the two groups.

His genuine concern for the people and his demonstrable willingness to do something about it have resonated with voters who want to see leadership that cares.

It is reasonable to anticipate such empathy, comprehension, and decisiveness from our political leaders. It would appear, however, that the APC Chairman repeatedly falls short, treating such matters with indifference and engaging in a brazen, disgraceful display of politics.

The Osun people across the state rejected APC, and their actions and utterances have consistently demonstrated why.

APC has been the dominant party in the state for 12 years, but their inability to transition into a less central role has brought criticism. The APC appears to be having difficulty connecting with voters as a result of their recent transfer from government to opposition. This only serves to emphasize how aimless they are.

It’s disheartening that a party with a long track record of state leadership has failed to fulfill its job as a responsible critic. It’s embarrassing enough to try to talk about public participation after such a long time spent governing behind closed doors.
