Crown and office personnel stolen in burglary at Ogun monarch’s palace

It has been claimed that the palace of the late Oba James Sodiya, Olu of Ogunmakin town in the Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State, was broken into and the late monarch’s staff of office and crown stolen.

The palace of the recently deceased monarch was apparently broken into on Thursday.

While speaking to reporters in Abeokuta on Saturday, Ogun State Police Spokesperson Omolola Odutola confirmed the event and said that three people had been arrested.

Odutola called the theft a “abominable act” and said the police had found the crown but were still looking for the staff of office.

Oke Oladipupo, Amusa Kazeem, and Johnson Oluwole are accused of breaking into the residence where the late king’s possessions were stored at around 2:00 a.m. on October 12, 2023. A horrible, repulsive thing to do.

“The office staff has not been recovered, but efforts are being made to do so.” We have taken the suspects into custody and are currently questioning them.
