Godwin Emefiele, the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) suspended governor, is not currently in its custody, according to the Department of State Services (DSS).

Soon after President Bola Tinubu suspended Emefiele, reports of his arrest surfaced.

According to a statement from the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, Emefiele’s suspension was “sequel to the ongoing investigation of his office and the planned reforms in the financial sector of the economy.”

Additionally, Tinubu named Mr. Folashodun Adebisi Shonubi as the Central Bank of Nigeria’s interim governor.

However, the DSS claimed in a tweet sent out on Saturday that the former CBN Governor was not acting as usual.

The tweet states, “Currently, Emefiele is not with the DSS.”

Emefiele’s whereabouts are still a mystery as of the time that this article was filed.
