Former NNPP Chair Oginni’s lawsuit is now being handled by the Ogun DPP

The case against Mr. Olaposi Oginni, the ex-chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Ogun State, and two other NNPP officials has been transferred from the police to the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP).

According to TWISCOLOADED reporting, Oginni was previously dismissed from the party for engaging in anti-party activities and misappropriating funds.

Oginni reported the incident to the police, citing theft and malicious destruction, while other party executives proceeded to the police station to ask for help from security agents in opening the party secretariat.

After E. A. Igwe and Co. petitioned the Inspector-General of Police on behalf of the NNPP’s national leadership, detectives from the Force Headquarters in Abuja apprehended Oginni in Abeokuta and transferred him to Abuja.

Abeokuta Magistrate Court, Isabo was notified on Wednesday by DPP attorneys that they would be taking over prosecution of the matter from the police, according to sources in TWISCOLOADED.

After receiving a letter from the DPP, the judge allowed them to take over the case and ordered the police prosecutor to turn over all relevant paperwork.

Prosecutors then requested a postponement of the trial so that they may review the case file and the testimony of the witnesses.

The trial date has been set for November 30, 2023.

Olowu Olayemi Omokehinde, the party’s state public relations officer, verified the news.

He told TWISC0LOADED  in a statement, “We are really glad that the DPP has taken up the prosecution of this case. We are confident that justice will be served and the facts will be revealed.
