Tayo Adeyemo, a sports executive, has encouraged the Nigeria Football Federation, or NFF, to keep Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro.

He stated that Paseiro’s contract extension will allow the Super Eagles to prepare early for the next AFCON.

Adeyemo stated this on Wednesday in Lagos while chatting with NAN.

He also encouraged the NFF to focus on playing home-based players in order for Nigeria to win the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which would be held in Morocco.

Morocco will host the 35th edition of the Total Energies CAF, often known as the Africa Cup of Nations, in 2025. “The NFF should extend the coach’s contract,” he stated.

He advised the Super Eagles and NFF to focus on the upcoming AFCON and qualifiers if the squad is to break their past AFCON records.

Adeyemo stated that the team required more motivated, skilled, and driven players to win the trophy on their next attempt.

He went on to say: “They should prepare more on training and playing quality friendly matches frequently with the home-based players if the international players are not ready.”

Adeyemo stated the Super Eagles performed admirably, finishing second at the 2023 AFCON held by Cote d’Ivoire.

“Prior to the event, many Nigerians did not anticipate the squad to reach the final or even advance from the group stage.

“For the team to get to the final, that means the coach performed excellently, and he should be retained,” he was quoted as saying.
