Minister Tunji-Ojo has announced that paramilitary officers will be paid at the same rate as police

Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Nigeria’s Minister of the Interior, has claimed that he has discussed increasing paramilitary officers’ pay in order to bring them in line with the salary of the Nigeria Police Force, NPF.

The minister was cited as saying this during an interview with Human Rights Radio in Abuja, according to a statement released on Tuesday by the Director of Press for the Ministry of the Interior, Ajibola Afonja.

Additionally, he stated that the Nigerian Immigration Service, Federal Fire Service, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the Nigeria Correctional Service were all being considered for the creation of a pension board by the Federal Government, much like the military.

Due to the dangers of their jobs, he argued, paramilitary troops should be paid more and given access to a pension board.
