NSCDC makes arrests of alleged child traffickers in Ondo

The Ondo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) has arrested two people they believe are part of a child trafficking ring. where the state is located.

Two men, 57-year-old Babatunde Oluwasola (also known as “Osanle”) and 47-year-old Fowowe Dada, were arrested after a missing girl was found to have been trafficked to Libya.

Investigations conducted by the NSCDC’s State Public Relations Officer, Daniel Aidamenbor, allegedly revealed that Oluwasola and Dada worked together to smuggle three girls out of Akure and into Libya in April 2023.

overlay-clevercloseLogo Aidamenbor further said that one of the accused, Oluwasola, helped take one of the girls to Libya along with Dada and someone named Iya Alaso.

After departing Akure, Ondo State, the victims took a desert route to Libya and contacted Mr. Babatunde through an intermediary two weeks later to report their safe arrival in Libya.

The victim was a 15-year-old girl who lived in Akure with her parents, but she mysteriously disappeared without warning.

“When she finally arrived in Libya, she discovered that her situation was very different from what she had anticipated. Since her father had been looking for her, she decided to contact him.

She begged her father for help, and he eventually contacted the Ondo State Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps.

We have admissions from the suspects; once we finish our investigation, we will hand over the case to NAPTIP (National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons).
