Osun’s government denies receiving merely a N2 billion subsidy palliative from the federal government

The Osun State Government has refuted claims that it only received N2 billion in subsidised palliative aid from the Federal Government.

The Osun State administration said that the N2 billion was for subsidy palliative and the N7 billion return from the Federal administration was for infrastructural intervention in a statement signed by Olawale Rasheed, the governor’s spokesman, on Sunday.

He disproved the supposed assertion made by the All Progressives Congress (APC), calling it out as purposefully misleading.

The N2 billion provided for subsidized palliatives is being dispensed for food palliatives, transportation services, and the refurbishment of health centers, Governor Adeleke told the people of the state at the Ipade Imole. Purchasing requests have been submitted.

The Governor spoke in Yoruba and English, explaining that the N7 billion federal rebate was earmarked for infrastructure intervention and represents less than 20 percent of the total money the Osun State Government is committed to infrastructure development.

In the spirit of transparent government and Freedom of Information, this administration will not shy away from holding officials accountable for their actions. The people here recognize Mr. Governor’s sincerity and value his leadership.

“At a time when the Presidency is embarrassed by the legacy and profile of the previous APC government in Osun state, the opposition is sinking deeper and deeper into an ever-widening chasm, becoming practically paralyzed and strategically in disorder in the face of a sitting Governor who enjoys a 90%+ performance approval rating from the state’s citizens.

The rank and file of the APC, who daily promote fake news that further destroys the opposition party in public ratings, are the ones who are confused, disoriented, and blinded by loss of power. A truly honest, accountable, and responsive leader, Governor Adeleke’s focus is on providing the people of Osun state with the benefits of good administration and democracy, according to the statement.

The governor also shared specifics on the planned construction initiatives.

All nine federal constituencies will benefit from dual-lane roads, new bridges, solar lighting for all important roads, improved healthcare facilities, water conservation measures, and new Imole communities.

The statement further mentioned that the appropriate procedures and procurement rules are being followed.
