On Wednesday, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu urged the European Union to help Nigeria and Africa improve their economies and security in order to reduce poverty on the continent.

Abiodun Oladunjoye, the president’s director of information, quoted Tinubu as having a phone call with Charles Michel, the president of the European Council.

The EU organization that establishes the overall political priorities and direction of the EU is the European Council.

President Tinubu asserted that in order to confront the savage poverty on the continent, both Nigeria and all of Africa would need the assistance and collaboration of their friends and international aid organizations like the EU.

The Nigerian leader pledged to keep in touch with the European Union and other member nations while requesting that the EU take a closer look at certain locations with security issues, such as Lake Chad and coastal areas.

He declared that he would take all necessary steps to combat poverty and insecurity, saying that they were top issues for his administration.

The Council president took advantage of the phone call to extend his congratulations to President Tinubu on his victory once more.

He emphasized Nigeria’s importance to the EU and the international community while pledging the Council’s commitment to closer cooperation and engagement with Nigeria based on respect for one another and shared interests.

Mr. Michel asked the president of Nigeria to keep collaborating with the EU on all pertinent fronts.
