Two dead after fire in diesel tank, according to Kano

The Kano State Fire Service has verified that two people died on Saturday night after becoming trapped while cleaning a diesel reservoir.

According to a statement released on Sunday by Saminu Abdullahi, the Public Relations Officer of the state fire service, the event took place on Katsina Road near the Baban Gwari roundabout in the Fagge Local Government Area.

He said that Philip Osando, age 40, and Philip Emmanuel, age 35, were the two victims.

He said, “At around 8:20 p.m. on Saturday, we received an emergency call from one Police Inspector Abubakar Surajo, and by around 8:27 p.m. we had sent our rescue team to the scene.”

After being told to prepare to receive fuel at their workplace, Abdullahi stated the deceased went inside the diesel reservoir to clear the tank but were unable to exit.

He claimed the firefighters brought the victims to the police, who took them to the hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
