We have conceded defeat—Matawalle’s camp reacts to Supreme Court ruling

The Zamfara state governorship campaign committee led by Bello Mohammed Matawalle has acknowledged the decision of the Supreme Court.

Responding to the Supreme Court’s decision, Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, who is also the deputy chairman of the campaign committee for 2023, issued a statement in which he urged party members to accept the ruling.

According to HEALTHYSPOT101, Matawalle, who is currently serving in President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet, missed out in the 2023 governorship elections since the supreme court certified Governor Dauda Lawal’s victory on Friday.

The statement went on to say that the governor and all lawmakers, regardless of party, now have a chance to work on restoring the security of lives and property in the state thanks to the final ruling of the apex court.

He conceded that the state has been significantly impacted by banditry, kidnappings for ransom, cattle rustling, armed bandits imposing taxes and levies on villagers before they can cultivate and harvest their land, killings, and displacement of citizens throughout the 14 LGAs of the state.

There will be no more lawsuits over the Zamfara State governorship election after the Supreme Court’s decision.

At this juncture, Dauda Lawal should lead the way in progressive governance by providing the people with the qualities of good leadership: being consensus-oriented, accountable, transparent, responsive, effective, efficient, equitable, and inclusive.

He needs to lead the country in a godly manner and use the democratic dividends to alleviate the people’s hardships.

“All parties that submitted to it are bound by the Judiciary’s responsibility, which it has performed in accordance with the constitution and democratic practice.

In order to bring good administration and democratic dividends to the people of the state, I strongly encourage Governor Dauda Lawal to include all parts of the state.

“I implore every member of the APC family to not let themselves be disheartened, but to stay steadfast in their pursuit of party unity and focus on building the party in preparation for the 2027 general election so that we can continue to serve the people of Zamfara State.”
